Tom LoScalzo, President and CEO Environmental Mechanical Contractors, Inc. announced today that David DeBiasse will serve the company in a new capacity. DeBiasse was named General Manager.
A strong commitment to craftsmanship has been the sustaining theme of Environmental Mechanical since 1945, when it was then named Troug-Nichols. The company, headquartered in Olathe, Kansas, has been creating outstanding results in the design, construction, fabrication, and installation of mechanical systems throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area for over fifty years.
DeBiasse was promoted from vice president where he was responsible for operations which includes design-build and estimating and construction coordination of projects. He is involved in on-site supervision and deals directly with contractors as well as clients. He has been vice president since June 2002.
His new role will give him responsibility of the overall operations of the company including acquisition of new businesses and fulfillment.
DeBiasse brings substantial field experience from working for a family owned commercial/residential plumbing and heating business. In addition, he gained experience in production mechanical systems as plant/project engineer for a plastics plant for three years. He spent the following eight years managing mechanical installations for a firm that served higher education, commercial, industrial, health care and pharmaceutical clients. He is a member of ASHRAE and holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kansas.
Paul Bloemer has been named to the Board of Directors as Treasurer and is Vice President of Finance and Administration at Environmental Mechanical. Paul's career began in Corporate America as an auditor at Arthur Young & Co., now Ernst & Young. After two years, Whitman Corp., parent company of Pepsi-Cola Bottlers Inc., hired Paul as internal auditor. He was soon promoted to Division Controller where he led and managed all local financial operations for the $60 million division. In his 20 + years of financial management experience, Paul Bloemer has held positions as group accounting manager for Pepsi-Cola Bottlers Inc., and senior asset operations specialist for Resolution Trust Corp. He has been a member of AICPA. Paul has a B.S. degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois and a M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Kansas.
Bloemer has been with Environmental Mechanical for 7 years as controller and CFO. He is responsible for all financial aspects of the business.

Local HVAC company grows
Tom LoScalzo, president and owner of Environmental Mechanical Contractors, Inc. (EMC) announced the hiring of three new associates - Bill Heck, Larry Martell and Bob Gregory.
Environmental Mechanical is a locally owned and operated commercial HVAC company serving Kansas City since 1945. The company designs, installs, fine-tunes and services mechanical and HVAC systems.
Bill Heck has more than 30 years of experience in the HVAC and pipefitting industry. From 1982 to 1999, he owned the Taber Chalmers Company. After two and a half years of retirement, Heck joined Environmental Mechanical as Vice President.
Heck served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960 – 1965. He completed an apprenticeship with Pipe Fitters Local 533 in 1972 while attending the University of Kansas. As owner of Taber Chalmers, Heck became a Master Pipe Fitter and HVAC Supervisor in 1985. He is licensed in Kansas City, Mo. and Kansas City, Kan.
Larry Martell has also been named as a serves Environmental Mechanical Vice President. Martell has been active in the mechanical/sheet metal industry since 1959. He completed his apprenticeship and proceeded to Journeyman, Foreman, and Superintendent. From 1965 through 1976, he worked as a Detailer and Sheetmetal Project Manager. He served as Corporate Officer and Manager of Natkin Sheetmetal Company from 1977 through 1987. He then served as Corporate Officer and Sheetmetal Manager for the Fagan Company from 1988 through 2002. Martell has served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Kansas City chapter of SMACNA
EMC has also added Bob Gregory as Piping Operations Manager. Gregory joined Environmental Mechanical after 27 years with Midwest Mechanical with his most recent position there as Vice President of Operations. He completed an apprenticeship with LU 533 Pipe Fitters and has worked -as Foreman, Project Superintendent, Project Manager, Estimating Manager, and Operation Manager. Gregory is active on the Labor Management committee for the Alliance of Professional Specialty Contractors and the Construction Industry Steering Team for the Labor-Management Council of Greater Kansas City, and is a member of the Design-Build Institute of America, Mid-America Chapter.
LoScalzo said he is thrilled to add these three extremely qualified individuals to the Environmental Mechanical team.

Kansas City native to serve four year term
Kansas City native and president of Environmental Mechanical Contractors, Inc., Tom LoScalzo has just been named to serve as a board member for the Kansas City Area Development Council (KCADC).
KCADC is a private, non-profit organization recognized nationwide as the agency that positions Kansas City as the prime metro of choice for expanding or relocating major corporations through the ThinkKC branding program.
LoScalzo joins other prestigious business community leaders in its quest to promote Kansas City as a business location of choice to national and international firms. KCADC also helps to facilitate final negotiations between companies coming to the Kansas City metro area and its more than 50 community and 18 county partners.
Since its inception in 1976, KCADC and its partners have directly assisted in bringing more than 500 companies to the Kansas City area creating more than 50,000 direct and indirect jobs.
Recent successes for Kansas City include at $50 million MasterCard International data center, Oldcastle APG Midwest manufacturing facility, Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation's $5 million commissary, AmerisourceBergen's $50 million Midwest distribution operations, and Frontier Airlines newest maintenance facility.

Environmental Mechanical Contractors Inc., a locally owned, Kansas City-based company is a single source design-build mechanical contractor. Environmental Mechanical has played a key role in many high profile projects throughout the metro area including: Aberdeen Village, Honeywell Corporate Headquarters, Black & Veatch Headquarters to Embassy Suites Hotel - Kansas City. Thomas J. LoScalzo, P.E., joined Environmental Mechanical in 1983 as a mechanical engineer and was named president in 1992. As a licensed engineer in Kansas and Missouri, Tom also lends his supervision and direction of design, estimating and construction management.

He has a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1980 and a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Kansas in 1978.
Tom's career at Environmental Mechanical began under his father Vince LoScalzo, who purchased a longtime mechanical contracting business, Truog-Nichols, in 1978 and renamed the company Environmental Mechanical. After graduating from college, Tom learned the design-oriented detailing of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, energy management and retrofit design work. He also has experience as a commercial pipe fitter.
Environmental Mechanical has been a member of the Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning Contractors National Association (SMACNA) since it's founding in 1950. Tom served as SMACNA president in 1995-1996 and a position on the national board of SMACNA. He remains active in SMACNA-KC and the Mechanical Contractors Association of Kansas City MCA-KC as of member of both boards of directors. He has also served as past president American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE-KC Chapter), past president of the local chapter of NEBB and past national president of the National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB).
