Luff Elementary School serves 324 students in grades K-5 as part of the Independence, Mo. Public School System.
Environmental Mechanical Contractors, Inc. disconnected and removed existing obsolete heating systems and cleaned up mechanical areas. EMC personnel used the existing system boiler in conjunction with a hot water converter to provide a new hot water heating system. Hot water piping is distributed throughout the building through the existing tunnel system.
Each classroom is equipped with new wall mounted unit ventilators (UVs) containing heating and cooling coils. The UVs provide proper ventilation for students while also allowing teachers individual control.
Common school areas were accommodated with packaged heating and cooling roof top units. The entire system is digitally controlled to ensure consistent space temperatures and peak energy efficiency.
